See the three landmarks of the Golden Circle and ride a snowmobile across Langjökull, Iceland's second-largest glacier — all in a single guided day from Reykjavík. Reykjavik Excursions has run Iceland's classic day tours since 1968, so you travel in a comfortable, carbon-neutral coach with an experienced guide and leave the driving, the route and the weather to people who know them. The Golden Circle begins at Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates visibly drift apart, and where Iceland's parliament was founded in 930 AD. The route continues to Gullfoss, the thundering two-tier waterfall, and the Geysir geothermal area, home to Strokkur — the reliably erupting hot spring that gave every other geyser in the world its name. After the sightseeing, the tour climbs into the highlands for the part you'll remember longest: an hour on a snowmobile across the vast white expanse of Langjökull. Full protective gear and a safety briefing are provided at the glacier base, so first-timers are looked after from the moment they step off the coach.

Í stuttu máli

Þingvellir National Park — stand between two continents at a UNESCO World Heritage Site Gullfoss — Iceland's iconic two-tier waterfall Geysir & Strokkur — the original geyser and its dependable, erupting neighbour Snowmobiling on Langjökull — one hour riding Iceland's second-largest glacier

Hvað er innifalið & vert að vita

  • Return travel by comfortable, carbon-neutral coach from Reykjavík
  • Experienced, English-speaking guide
  • Audio guide on your own smartphone (headphones and mobile data required), available in English, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Finnish, Spanish, Chinese, Korean and Japanese
  • One-hour guided snowmobile ride on Langjökull (two riders per snowmobile)
  • Protective overalls, helmet and safety equipment for the ride
  • Minimum age 6. Children aged 5 and under cannot join, and one child is permitted per paying adult.
  • A valid driving licence is required to drive the snowmobile. Two guests share each snowmobile; a single-rider vehicle is available at extra cost.
  • Dress for Icelandic weather: warm thermal layers, a waterproof jacket and sturdy shoes. On colder days, add a hat, gloves, a scarf and warm socks.
  • Winter paths can be icy — we recommend crampons for secure footing (available at BSÍ Bus Terminal, among other places).
  • The glacier ride depends on conditions. Sudden weather changes mean the snowmobile section can be cancelled even after departure from Reykjavík; our guides always put safety first.

"Great guide and awesome time"
My guide Julien was super down to earth and knowledgeable. The trip was sadly cancelled twice due to the weather, but the third day worked out so I would recommend scheduling as early in your trip as possible. The snowmobiling was very well organized and all gear was supplied on site. Part of my trip to the ice cave was cancelled still due to it being snowed in, but they were kind enough to provide a free single ride option for the snowmobiling.

"Iceland adventure"
Our family of 5 had an amazing adventure in Iceland thanks to Reykjavík Excursions. Katrina was our very informed Golden Circle tour guide and Hersey was our funny and knowledgeable Glac-ier tour guide.

"Golden Circle with Snowmobiling and Jokulsarlon tours - both fantastic"
My 11 year old daughter and I spent 4 days in Iceland at the end of August. We did the Golden Circle tour with Snowmobiling tour as well as the very long Jokulsarlon tour and South Coast. Both tours were incredible. Snowmobiling was a highlight- something we'd never done before and it was fantastic. But I loved the Jokulsarlon tour even more. It was a long day but don't hesitate, there are things to see along the way even in rainy/foggy weather and the glacial lagoon was stunning. I have never seen my daughter so happy. For both tours we had extremely knowledgeable and personable guides. Buses were always on time and comfortable. Excellent tours.
